The Sierra Leone Minister of Labour and Social Security, Alpha Osman Timbo, has engaged Her Excellency the Swedish Ambassador, Anna Jardfelt, during a courtesy call during which they discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, among which is international assistance in the fields of education, labor, and energy.
During their bilateral discussion, the minister appreciated the Swedish Ambassador for taking her time to be engaged in bilateral cooperation that will solidify the friendly relations between the two countries.
Minister Timbo said the Sierra Leone President, Julius Maada Bio's investment in human capital development was borne out of the President’s ambition to transform education, health, tourism, and other sectors of the country’s economy. He said the transformation aims to be extended to the labor, social security, and welfare sectors as well.
The Swedish Ambassador, Her Excellency Anna Jardfelt, described the courtesy call as an essential component of strengthening the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Sierra Leone, and Sweden, which according to her, would stimulate Sierra Leone’s endeavor to achieve economic growth.
Ambassador Anna Jardfelt said, within the framework of strengthening cooperation in education and Labour Security, about Sweden’s development plan with Sierra Leone, she is optimistic that the two countries will work closely to promote enormous cooperation in these fields for the benefit of the two while assuring Sweden’s willingness to assist Sierra Leone in achieving quality education by providing scholarships to university students to pursue research and other academic opportunities in Sweden.
Consolidation of the existing diplomatic ties between the two nations in the areas of education, investment, and labor migration, among others forms the key point of their discussion. This is expected to be championed by the country's Embassy and Permanent Mission in ensuring the actualization of the plans.
