Formerly the Old Princewaleans UK and Ireland Branch, the Prince of Wales Alumni Association (POWAA—UK) has donated 3,000 Centenary neckties to pupils in junior and senior secondary schools.
Founded in London in 1985, with the core objective of supporting the development of their viable alma mater by advocating for advancing the education of current and future pupils of the Prince of Wales Secondary School.
This second phase of the distribution of the school’s centenary neckties to pupils took place on Tuesday, 25 March 2025, at the school’s Kingtom campus, where senior alumni from POWAA-UK who have been playing a significant role in ensuring the centenary celebration leaves a tangible positive impact on the school community and the nation witnessed the exercise.

The vice president of POWAA-UK, Donald Hanciles, revealed that the donation was made to give back to the school that has helped shape their future, stressing that their mere presence signifies how important the school is to them.
“We made the moral decision to provide these ties as gifts to the students rather than selling them. This gesture is a token of our appreciation for the institution that played a fundamental role in our lives. A few days back, we distributed more than 1,530 centenary neckties to junior pupils, and today, we are distributing over 1,000 to senior pupils,” Mr Hanciles informed.
He assured of their dedication and continuous support for their alma mater, noting that the passion for POWAA-UK to contribute to the development of the school remains strong. He stressed that despite the challenges, they remain steadfast in their support for the students and the school while encouraging pupils to uphold discipline and respect and use the necktie properly; hence, they should focus on their academic goals.
The Chairman of the Centenary Committee, Justice Reginald Fynn, encourages the pupils to be mindful of the fact that the centenary celebrations are an opportunity for them to showcase the values of the school, including excellence, distinction, and a positive character.

POWAA-UK remains committed to supporting Prince of Wales School through various initiatives, including fundraising efforts to enhance educational programmes and infrastructure. Their mission extends beyond donations, aiming to foster a strong community spirit among ex-Princewaleans while elevating the school’s legacy on a national and global scale.
