The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone makes a book donation to the University of Sierra Leone Library

The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone on Tuesday, July 6, 2022, donated a batch of books and equipment to the library of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone (USL).

The Chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, Li Xiaoyong, said that USL is an outstanding witness of China and Sierra Leone’s time-honored friendship, especially in the educational and cultural sectors.

For example, in the past few years, China has sponsored more than 1,000 Sierra Leonean students to study in China and invited more than 5,100 Sierra Leonean friends from all walks of life to China for short-term training courses or exchanges.

Mr. Li emphasized that he believes the USL students that had participated in many training programs will serve as goodwill ambassadors between China and Sierra Leone.

Professor Foday Sahr, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of USL, expressed his gratitude for China’s unswerving support for Sierra Leone, especially USL. He said these books and materials would surely boost the capacity building of the students and teachers of USL.

The books include three volumes of President Xi Jinping’s books: the Governance of China, the Concise History of the Communist Party of China (CPC), How the CPC Exercises the Rule by Law, Motive Force of Transformation, etc.

The donation at the university was witnessed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Fourah Bay College, Joseph Kamara, other officials from the USL, and the Chinese Embassy.
