Sierra Leone's Press Attaché' to Saudi Arabia supports windstorm survivors in Makeni

Survivors of a recent windstorm in Makeni - Northern Sierra Leone were consoled by the Information Attaché in Saudi Arabia, Abu Bakarr Bah, with the financial support of Seven million three hundred thousand Leones (Le.7,300,000).

The windstorm that led to forced migration and internal displacement of persons in that part of the country, destroyed properties worth millions of Leones, rendering the survivors homeless.

The financial support from Abu Bakarr Bah was intended to ease the survivors’ traumatic situation, as they await support from the government and other philanthropists in the country. The community was in dire need of help when they received financial support from the country’s Information Attaché in Saudi Arabia.

One of the beneficiaries, Momodu Wurie Barrie, says the past days of the disaster were hard for them with lots of challenges, finding shelters, and food for their families. He said the financial support from Bah, was the first support they are receiving from any quarter.

He expressed how devastating and stressful it was for them in the past weeks after the windstorm destroyed their properties worth millions of Leones. He said the support was timely as it will help them recover from their trauma, and unfortunate situation, while he prays on behalf of others, that Allah continues to provide, and look after the philanthropist.

Abu Bakarr Bah identified himself with the Makeni community, as well as with survivors of the windstorm that are presently going through odd times as a result of natural disasters. He said being a diplomat, and serving his country in a foreign mission is no barrier for him to support back home when people are in dire need.
