It’s time for me to retire as a Statesman -Fmr Pres Koroma

The former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, who doubles as the Chairman and Leader of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, says it is time for him to retire as Statesman. Dressed in his red shirt with red hat carrying the initials APC in white against the red background, at the party convention in Makeni, for the adoption of a new party constitution.

While speaking as Chairman and Leader of the main opposition party, the former president says he is deeply disappointed with the actions of some of the Party members who failed to allow the party to address their grievances internally but instead decided to go to court which resulted in them holding the Conference based on a Court Order.

He says their party should be able to resolve its matters without reaching the point of going to court, as long as it about the future of the party, they should decide to pipe down, but also confirmed, “we have spent a long time waiting for this important day.”

The former President says he is now tired of being Chairman and Leader stating, “I want to go, I have reached a point wherein I’m tired as a human being, we should bring young people to develop the party, we should give the opportunity to people to serve but we don’t need to go to court for such action.”

The APC party Chairman and Leader says the confusion will continue to prolong his stay as Chairman but, he is tired of serving. He openly took the responsibility for all the wrongdoings in the interest of the party and the young people but expressed disappointment that it is the court that called them to sit and discuss.

Former President Koroma pointed out that the APC’s problem is not with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government but with its members confirming, all that is happening within their party is a result of the flagbearer contest.
