An official and authorized voice expresses its joy and that of all the inhabitants of the Afyonkarahisar region. It is through a media release that Mayor Mehmet Zeybek first presented his city and its assets.
Spread over an area of 14,532 km2 for a population of about 812,416 inhabitants, Afyonkarahisar is located in the southwest and 250 km from the capital Ankara and stretches along the Ağrçay river.
Referring to the World Arab Boxing Championship that his city is about to host, the Mayor announced that the opening ceremony will be grand in the image of ancient and modern Turkey and worthy of the rank of this great cultural and hospitable nation.
Traditional and modern songs and dances together with a parade to the sound of the national song (hear the anthem) will set the tone for the first international Arab Boxing tournament.
A dozen African countries and islands will take part in the Afyonkarahysar meeting with athletes and their coaches, businessmen, and media professionals. They are Gabon, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Namibia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Trinidad, and Tobago, and Saotome.
The Mayor reassured that the organization will have all the support of the high authorities of the country so that this great meeting will be in the image of the greatness of Turkey.
While trusting the Mayor and the FIBA officials, the Turkish Authorities are firmly convinced that the Afyonkarahisar event will strengthen the economic relations between the Arab and African world and start its consolidation.
It should be noted that Arab Boxing is not only a sport discipline but also a framework for economic, tourist, cultural, and artistic promotion. The Afyonkarahisar meeting will therefore be a space of mixing between Arab businessmen and African economic operators in all fields (Agriculture, NTIC, Environmental protection, Hydraulics, Trade, Mining, etc...)
