Curfew lifted in Sierra Leone, mandatory vaccination to access public building

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has on the recommendations of NaCOVERC decided to lift the nationwide curfew with immediate effect from Monday 13th September 2021.


The lifting of the curfew is accompanied by a raft of measures in the public notice signed by the NaCOVERC Spokesperson, Solomon Jamiru Esq. This includes:

· Congregational worship to continue with mandatory face mask, social distancing and hygiene and other COVID-19 measures strictly adhered to;

· All persons accessing public buildings must provide proof of at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination, and No Mask No Entry policy strictly enforced;

· Use of face mask in all public transportation is mandatory as Drivers and passengers are encouraged to be vaccinated at the earliest opportunity;

· Teachers, Instructors, school administrators and support staff in pre-primary, primary and secondary schools are expected to provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination as well as lecturers, administrators support staff and students in higher institutions of learning;

· Restrictions on public gathering such as funeral, weddings and receptions are lifted except for mandatory use of face mask, social distancing and other protocols;

· Restrictions on hotels, bars, restaurants, night clubs, cinemas and any large-scale entertainment activity are lifted on the condition that all persons accessing such facilities and event must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination.

· Restriction on sporting activities are lifted and all persons including players and spectators must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to access the sporting venue. NaCOVERC will also be conducting PCR tests at interval.

The statement also maintained that with effect from Monday 27th September 2021, all unvaccinated passengers travelling into Sierra Leone will undergo mandatory quarantine at their own cost until proof of negative PCR result.
