Access to Education-Sierra Leone supports Ebola affected children in Bombali

Last Friday, at the Masuba community centre in Gbanti chiefdom, Access to Education Sierra Leone-(A2ESL) dished out material and financial support to orphans and school going children residing in various communities in Bombali District that were badly hit by the Ebola virus disease several years ago.


A2ESL founder Mohamed Papa Bangura confirmed to Journalists that the assorted schooling materials which range from books, pens, pencils, back-packs, pair of shoes among others were given to a total of seventy-five(75) school going pupils selected from four chiefdoms namely Bombali Shebora, Gbanti, Mapakie and Makarie chiefdom with funds from his fellows and other well-wishers at home and abroad.


Bangura underscored that his foundation has also championed the construction of schools in Gbanti Chiefdom in the Bombali District, North-East Province of Sierra Leone and has plans to continue to support vulnerable children in Sierra Leone.”


Awoko spoke to widows and their children that were among the beneficiaries. 55-year-old Isata Sillah of Talent town and Mabinty S. Koroma(a widow) from Manonkoh junction offered prayers to the donors, saying they are excited and remain very thankful that their children have been selected among the beneficiaries that have received the educational support from A2ESL, noting that it will help to cushion the economic burden meted on them by the novel coronavirus.

On behalf of the Beneficiaries Adamsay Sesay a class-5 pupil attending the Ozania community Primary School and Dauda Kamara a JSS-3 pupil from Kanakalay Junior Secondary School in Makeni expressed warm appreciation to Access to Education Sierra Leone, saying the persistent educational support they have earned since 2018 is not only bailing out their parents from the burden of expenses on their education but will as well help them to attain their dream professions of becoming a Teacher and a Politician when they complete their tertiary education in the coming years.
